Eagle eyed viewers of the site will have noticed this week the reappearance for the projects tab. I am proud to announce the beginnings of the Red Fox Pottery Lending Library.
Launching the library has taken the same amount of time for a normal blog entry, so please go to the Library and look at the first few pieces to be adopted.
I have been busy recently working through my dissertation and creating videos for the practical part of the research. Learning to edit on Adobe Premiere Pro has been a bit of a slog this week but it has sped up the process no end now I am getting to grips with it. I just wish it weren’t a subscription based service but nevermind. 1) I had the idea of making a video from the pots point of view, I replaced some of the sound to change the qualities.
You may remember my post on Saggars and some of my results. I really want to talk a bit more how these wobbly pots are made.
Wave Marks in the Sand, or Soap Dishes? The answer is soap dishes, I’m making these to take to the Green Loop Eco Makers Market in Lytham St Annes at the end of April. They will be glazed in a wood ash glaze, which is waste from wood stoves, plus a powdered clay and the calcinated seashells from my saggar firings, once they have been used to stop pots sticking together in that firing they turn to powder which can then be used to help flux the glaze. So it’s that time of the year I trek across the Country from Coastal Lancashire to Nottinghamshire to go to Earth and Fire. This year it was at a new venue it had moved from Rufford Abbey to the Harley Gallery at the Welbeck Estate. It was a really different venue from before.

At the moment it is the children’s summer holidays which means I have to wear my Dad hat a lot more. We went away to a camping barn and the children had fun staying in “a little house” as my youngest put it. Oddly while I was away some interesting things happened. For one we had the first piece of writing for the lending Library this is mug 17 that was given away to a member of my writing group.
